METRO is excited to partner with the American Red Cross on Thursday, January 11th to launch its first blood drive. We’ll be working together to give back to the community in a truly life changing way. Each donation can save up to three lives!
The blood drive will be held Thursday, January 11th at the Robert K. Pfaff Transit Center from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. To donate, you can either schedule an appointment with code METRORTA or simply drop-in. Appointments are highly recommended. Every person who attempts to donate blood that day will receive a One-Day METRO bus pass*, good on line-service only.
Before you schedule your appointment or drop-in to donate, please take a moment to review the eligibility requirements for blood donation. In general, donors must:
- Be in good general health and feeling well**
- Be at least 17 years old
- Weigh at least 110 lbs.
Additional weight requirements apply for donors 18 years old and younger and all high school donors. More information is available at redcrossblood.org.
The Red Cross has been making a humanitarian impact for more than 130 years, and has been collecting blood for over 70 of those years. We can all be part of something important when we work with the Red Cross to strengthen the blood supply and give back to our community.
We hope you join us to make an impact on January 11th and add saving lives to our list of great accomplishments.

**Note: Healthy means that you feel well and can perform normal activities. If you have a chronic condition such as diabetes, healthy also means that you are being treated and the condition is under control. If you are not feeling well on the day of your donation, please contact the Red Cross to reschedule.
