Beginning September 9, 2020, passengers can plan their trip and purchase their bus pass on the Moovit app. METRO is one of 13 participating agencies throughout Ohio and Kentucky with tickets available on Moovit.
Once a user launches the Moovit app, inputs their destination and selects their transportation route, Moovit will:
- Display the total cost of the trip: Whether it’s a single bus trip, or transferring lines between multiple agencies, Moovit will calculate and display the total, and breakdown, fare of the trip.
- Enable in-app ticket purchasing: Users will have the ability to purchase transit tickets directly in the Moovit app.
- Provide a unique QR code for ticket validation: Moovit will display a digital ticket and QR code that can be visually inspected or scanned.
This is partnership between NEORide, an Ohio-based council of governments comprised of 15 transit systems, including METRO; Masabi, the company bringing Fare Payments-as-a-Service to public transit; and Moovit, an Intel company, a leading Mobility as a Service (MaaS) solutions provider and the creator of the #1 urban mobility app.
The free Moovit app is available in the App Store and Google Play.
