METRO RTA has reason to believe that Transport Workers Union Local 1 (TWU) may strike and/or picket METRO starting November 4, 2021. While METRO has not been served with a valid Notice of Intent to Strike and Picket by TWU as required by Ohio law, METRO is making riders and the public aware of a potential strike and/or picket, which may result in disrupted or no transit service starting Thursday, November 4, 2021.
METRO strongly encourages riders to check for updates here or on METRO’s Facebook and Twitter pages. Riders are also encouraged to make other contingent transportation arrangements if necessary or appropriate. Individuals can sign up for METRO’s e-news alerts and/or call METRO’s information line at 330.940.1236 for updates.
While METRO respects the rights of TWU and its members to lawfully strike and/or picket, METRO is hopeful the TWU will serve a valid Notice of Intent to Strike and Picket so METRO and its passengers can plan accordingly.
METRO and TWU are scheduled to resume contract negotiations on November 2, 2021, and METRO will continue bargaining in good faith.
