Proposed Changes to METRO Fixed-Route Network

METRO RTA announces public hearings to discuss proposed changes to the fixed route bus network. The hearing schedules are as follows

  •          Wednesday May 14th 7:00pm to 7:45pm Barberton Public Library

602 W. Park Ave, Barberton, Ohio 44203 (Route 8 service change)

  •          Wednesday May 21st 6:00pm to 6:45pm Akron-Summit County Library Kenmore Branch

 969 Kenmore Boulevard Akron, Ohio 44314.  (Route 8 & 29 service changes)

These public hearings are being held to comply with Federal Transit Administration requirements pertaining to Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. 

Following the direction of the Strategic Plan adopted in 2020, The Reimagined Network implantation in 2023, to focus METRO’s resources on providing more frequent service on busy corridors where a significant number of people need to travel.  

This meeting will address proposed service increases:

Route 8 - Frequency increase from 30 minutes to 15 minutes

Route 29 - Frequency increase from 60 minutes to 30 minutes with the addition of trips in both directions to the Corey and Carnegie Ave area.
